I used to "root for him", especially after the award members of the Resistance Group of the Mašín Brothers. Once again he appears in the media preaching about morality. I accidentally discovered the article The Secrets of Mirek Topolánek's Luxury Real Estate.
I quote: Mirek Topolánek, former prime minister and former ODS chairman, announced his ambition to behave as a presidential candidate "according to good manners and customs". For example, it is still unclear how much Topolánek spent to buy the 433 m² luxury 7+1 apartment in Dejvice, Prague, where he and his family now live. He is said to have invested another CZK 7 million in the reconstruction of this apartment. Another transaction Topolánek made this May also deserves attention. At that time, a large apartment in Špindlerův Mlýn was added to his property portfolio. In this case, the amount for the property is traceable - he paid over CZK 17 million for the mountain apartment.
But it is not clear to whom the money actually went. The company with which Topolánek concluded the contract is opaque, based in a tax haven. It is evident that Mirek Topolánek prospered after leaving big politics (and moving into business). In addition to buying an apartment for an unknown amount, he built a luxury house near Kutná Hora for almost CZK 30 million, and bought an apartment in the Krkonoše Mountains for another CZK 17 million. The 121 m² attic apartment, which includes a living hall, three rooms, two bathrooms, a balcony, a cellar, a parking space and shares in the surrounding land, cost his company TopTal21 CZK 17,484,500, according to the purchase contract.
He did not resist the lure of politics. Another victim of it. He is far from alone. He has lost touch with life, succumbed to his environment and acts like a psychopath. A few months ago I approached him at a discussion event (we know each other from before). He was arrogant, aged a lot. Humanly, we can only feel sorry for him and others like him, but if someone steals the values that others have built up through honest work, they don't deserve pity.
Remember the naked photos of Mirek Topolánek in Italy in 2009 (I have not found them). There were
his friend Marek Dalík. Supposedly also the head of ČEZ Martin Roman. The yachts of ex-transport minister Ales Rebicek (ODS) and lobbyist Vladimir Johannes, who hosted ČSSD deputy chairman Milan Urban, were moored off the same island.
He lectured at the NF VŠE (Faculty of Economics at the University of Economics), sought contracts for VAE Controls or tried to win contracts for the Slovak CTY Group in the engineering and petrochemical industry in Kazakhstan. Since September 2011, he has been the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Czech Thermal Power Association and since October 2011 he has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Elektrárny Opatovice.
How many of these "modern papalas" live in our country on the work of others? How many of them have been convicted and ended up in prison? At the Military High School of Jan Žižka of Trocnov, only the reliable and proven could study under the communists.
