Court rejects property claims of Baťa's relatives
Errors, Mistakes, and Omissions
CORRECTIONS:
The recent news release published in the Prague Monitor was about my grandfather, Jan Antonin Bata. The litigation in question was brought by me, my brother and sisters and my cousin. Most of this news release contains errors and mistakes.
Now to the corrections.
1. The record villa belonged to Maria J. Bata, the wife of Jan Antonin Bata. Why was she not mentioned in this press coverage?
2. We are not from South America, we are from North America. All five of us are live in the U.S.A. Our names are not mentioned?
3. All five of us are direct relatives of J.A.Bata. We are his grandchildren.
4. It is true the property was taken away from us before 1948, but is it still our property.
5. Jan A. Bata was not a step-relative of Tomas Bata. He was his half-brother. They both were born from the same father.
6. Jan Bata didn't replace Tomas Bata only as the head of the organization. Tomas made a deal with brother Jan to purchase the business and he set the price. Jan agreed and purchased the entire business. This transaction happened one year before the death of Tomas Bata. This agreement was approved by the Finance Ministry in 1933.
7. Jan Bata did not give thousands to the Czech government in exile. He gave them millions. In fact he gave more than any other Czech, even though he disagreed with their politics. His international businesses provided billions in value to the Allied Cause. Finally, J.A.Bata helped the Czech government to raise more than a billion crowns for the Czech defense in 1938. Jan Bata personally made the largest donation. Jan Bata was a Czech patriot.
8. Our legal efforts are not a circumvention of Czech law. These rights are enshrined in the constitution.
We find it incredible that you in the media have been given access to this decision long before our attorneys have been given access to it. This is an obvious litigation tactic that is completely unfair in a civilized country.
Our recommendation for the writer or writers of this article is to CHECK YOUR FACTS check and to MAKE CORRECTIONS.
