In social media, we are no longer clients, but a mining resource. We are mined for private psychological data, which is then sold on to marketers and propagandists. During the covid, alternative nutritional product manufacturers invested two billion dollars in developing Antivax groups on social media to make their products more marketable. Psychological data from these groups told marketers that these products sell best among people who don't believe in vaccinations and modern medicine. So they took that data, targeted that sample of people, and amplified it through marketing to make it grow. In the end, the data was used by Russia to create a bigger pandemic. All the Antivax groups on FB seamlessly switched to vilifying Ukrainians this spring. All the analytical reports show it. Those people went there in good faith to seek alternative medical advice and ended up in the hard core of Russian propaganda (from social media 3.12.2022).
